Brandon Blvd., and if it moves forward, Better Buzz Coffee in Brandon would be one of the more exciting coffee arrivals the area has seen in a while.
According to Hillsborough County HillsGovHub permit records, Better Buzz Coffee is listed as the new tenant for that address. This would make it one of the brand’s first Florida locations as the brand continues expanding east from its West Coast roots.
What the Permit Records Show
The HillsGovHub permit record lists Kerpan Architects, LLC as the applicant and WPG-Limona LLC as the property owner. The project description covers a tenant improvement plan that includes remodeling both the interior and exterior of the building, while the site layout is expected to stay the same.
This is not a full teardown or ground-up build. The existing structure is being reworked into a Better Buzz location, and the submitted elevation renderings already show the brand’s signature black, white and yellow design with bold patterns, honeycomb-style details and updated exterior signage. If you know the Better Buzz look, the plans are immediately recognizable.
The review type is listed as accelerated plan review and the new occupancy category is A-2, which covers restaurants and similar food service uses.
There is no official opening date listed, and the Brandon location does not appear on Better Buzz’s public locations page as of this writing. For now, the most accurate way to describe it is this: Better Buzz Coffee in Brandon is confirmed by permit records, but an official announcement has not come yet.
Who Is Better Buzz Coffee?
Better Buzz Coffee was founded in 2002 and built its reputation as a small-batch coffee roaster with a high-energy cafe experience. The brand has grown to more than 40 locations, primarily in California, with expansion into Arizona and Nevada. Florida’s first confirmed Better Buzz location is planned for Wesley Chapel in Pasco County, which would make Better Buzz Coffee in Brandon part of a broader push into the Tampa Bay market.
The menu is built around handcrafted espresso drinks, cold coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and acai bowls. Better Buzz roasts its own beans and delivers them fresh to each location weekly, which is one of the things that separates it from bigger chains.
